Catholic leadership bans masses outside churches on November 1 and 2

Retired Lingayen-Archbishop Oscar Cruz, the head of the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines National Tribunal of Appeals, said a priest is banned from celebrating a mass outside the church on All Saints' Day and on All Souls' Day, even if he is related to the deceased. He said the directive was issued by the Church heirarchy due to the reported practice of some Catholic priests to accept "special masses" in exchange of cash donations from the relatives of the deceased.
