Pingtan, the largest island in Fujian province and the fifth largest island in China, is closest to Taiwan island proper, as it borders on the Taiwan Strait in the east and just 126 kilometers from Hsinchu, Taiwan. China has already put in 150 billion RMB from 2010 to 2015 for the development of Pingtan Comprehensive Pilot Zone.
