The Commission on Elections' contractor for the optical mark readers that will be used in the 2016 elections has agreed to the Comelec's request that the OMRs be manufactured in Taiwan instead of in China. “We respect the Comelec’s decision and have therefore acceded to the request,” said Smartmatic Asia Pacific president Cesar Flores said in a statement issued on Thursday.
