Corruption, dispute with China cause PHL to slip in peace index

Despite the historic signing of the Comprehensive Agreement on the Bangsamoro earlier this year, the Philippines has slipped further down the pole in terms of peace. The Philippines ranked 134th out of 162 countries in the Global Peace Index for 2014, down five notches from last year. The country remains one of the lowest ranked in the Asia-Pacific, due in part to prevailing problems of terrorism and corruption in the country. The report also mentioned the territorial dispute with China.
